Sugarmill Woods Activities
While Sugarmill Woods is made up of three distinct “Villages”, represented by three Property/Home Owners Associations, the many activities available to residents contribute to an impressive sense of community among the three Villages.
Many residents make extensive use of the athletic facilities available throughout the community for which there are various levels of membership. Cypress Village has two nine-hole golf courses grouped around Cypress Village Center provided by the Sugarmill Woods Country Club. The Club has a full service restaurant, as well as meeting rooms available for private parties. A pro shop is also located on these premises.

Oak Village Center has a well-equipped fitness center open to residents 24 hours a day, a swimming pool, tennis courts, pickleball courts, racquetball/handball areas and a children’s play area.
Located in the Southern Woods community is the Citrus National Golf Club, a privately owned facility, which has its own Club House, restaurant and pro shop, and an 18 hole professional level golf course. For more information about the Golf Club and membership opportunities, please click on link “Other Organizations – Citrus National Golf Club” at the top of this page. Like the Sugarmill Woods Country Club, the Citrus National Golf Club caters to its membership and has become popular for hosting private parties and special fundraising tournaments which benefit local charities, such as Habitat for Humanity and several others.
Throughout the course of the year the two Country Clubs sponsor very popular holiday dinners and events –Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc.–open to members and guests. Sugarmill Woods also has numerous clubs open to residents, including two women’s clubs which sponsor their own events for their members, as well as charitable activities such as a Food Bank to benefit needy residents of Citrus County, and two important volunteer groups, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and the Sugarmill Woods Crime Watch, supported by the Sheriff’s Office which provides a cruiser and training for residents to patrol their own community.
The nearby Shoppes of Sugarmill Woods conveniently offers a Publix grocery store and pharmacy as well as a Truist Bank and several other small restaurants and stores.
The three Property/Home Owners’ Associations are staffed by volunteers from among residents and are responsible for, among other functions, overseeing the associations’ deed restrictions, and the maintenance of the greenbelt and the common areas. The Sugarmill Woods Civic Association (the sponsor of this website), made up of volunteers who also are residents, monitors utility rates, the Board of County Commissioners, and other issues in Citrus County which impact the welfare of the residents of Sugarmill Woods.
More information about the activities of these various organizations is available on this website under “Other Organizations“.
